Thanksgiving

Image
Hey everybody!     This week was super good, and we had Thanksgiving so it was also super filling. I am currently stepping away from playing ping pong right now, because the church we are at has a table!     We started teaching another person we found on Facebook which was really cool, although the Arizona state health department recommended Arizona go into a 3 week lock down so that might happen soon. A lot of the people we are finding right now are on Facebook anyway, so I'm not sweating it too much.     Thanksgiving morning this week the Elders in our apartment asked if we could come help with service. It was a rough service. The lady we helped could have been on the show hoarders let me tell ya. It took a few hours and then we went over to a members house in our ward for dinner.     It was so good, and they had Texas Roadhouse rolls. Did you know you can get a dozen rolls for $4.50? If that isn't the best deal I've ever heard. So Friday we wen...

It Is What It Is

Image
Hey everyone,     This has been a super spiritual week, so I will condense it as much as I can. It started out with transfers. Everyone In our apartment stayed except Elder Winters. I'm sad Elder Winters left cause I made a lifelong friend in him, but it is what it is.     We had a lesson with a lady we've been teaching for sometime but we weren't able to have a lesson with her the last few weeks because she had back problems and back surgery. She was struggling to understand how the spirit feels, so we asked her how she felt when we gave her a blessing, and explained it to her. It was such an awesome lesson and the spirit was so strong.     On Friday we had 2 amazing opportunities to hear from apostles. First President Nelson gave an amazing message on hope and healing. It made me think about all the things I've been blessed with in my life! As if that wasn't already enough, Elder Renlund of the quorum of the twelve apostles and his wife did a zoom meeting...

First Baptism

Image
Hey everybody,     Sorry this is coming late, P day got switched to Tuesday because transfers are tomorrow. This week has been super good, just a little uneventful.     The main highlight this week was my first baptism! It was with a guy named Robert that we have been working with since I got here. It is wonderful to see how you can truly learn to love someone in such a short amount of time. In addition it is awesome to see how much someone can progress in a little over a month. He asked me to speak on baptism during the program which was so great. He kept smiling afterwards and when we would ask him how he felt he would just say, "clean" and "ready for the holy Ghost". The spirit during the baptism was so strong!     Another funny thing that happened this week was that, we texted our stake president on Saturday to see if him and his counselors could play basketball yesterday, and he said, "I don't think my counselors are available, but I want Wilhelmsen on...

Lots Of Hammocking

Image
Hey everybody,      This week was really good, had a lot of amazing things happen.     Last P day we strung our hammocks in between two trucks and laid there most of the day. We also played football as a zone which was super fun.     Also on Thursday we had a lot of calls but it was cold outside so we set the volleyball poles up in the gym and sat in our hammocks in there while we did our missionary work. Idk if I've mentioned that I like hammocking yet hahaha.     We had some really cool miracles this week that increased my testimony of prayer. I posted about a week and a half ago on Facebook asking if anybody needed me to pray for them for anything. Got a lot of responses and then the day after I prayed for them I sent them a message letting them know that I did, and started conversations. I was praying a ton this last week and a half because almost all the conversations fizzled out, so I was discouraged... until 2 nights ago. I've been mes...

Grand Canyon

Image
Hey everyone!     Had a great week not as packed as last week though.     We went to the Grand Canyon and it was awesome, we got close to some elk and almost got attacked. It was such a cool view, I would definitely recommend it to anyone that hasn't been. On Tuesday night the young men asked if we could come play hockey with them for their activity so we went and played with them. There is nothing like being humbled by a 12 year old that has played his whole life hahaha. It was super fun and the young men are super cool. We also woke up early and played Saturday morning. We chopped wood for a crazy lady this week that fed us pizza. When I say pizza, I use the term very loosely. It looked like she had put everything in her pantry/garden into a bag and chose randomly. We came over to chop wood and accidentally ended up playing fear factor hahaha. For those that don't know, I'm a picky eater, so this was my worst nightmare. I just smiled and told her it was delicious. ...
