Arizona Welcome Letter
We are thrilled that you have accepted a call to serve as a full time missionary, and that you have been assigned to labor in the Arizona Phoenix Mission! You will have a marvelous experience as you commit to serving Him with “all your heart, might, mind and strength.”
Being a part of this sacred work, you will focus on your purpose as a missionary: “Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end”. As you do so, you will find great joy and satisfaction, and will learn life lessons that will bless your life. We are excited to serve with you!
By way of introduction, we both grew up in Utah. I served my mission in Guatemala, Guatemala City, and we then met at Utah State, and were married in the Logan, UT Temple in 1987. We graduated from Utah State in 1988, and immediately left Utah and have had the privilege of living in many different parts of the country due to our career. Most recently, we have lived in the greater Chicago area for the past 16 years. We have five wonderful children, three daughters and two sons. Our three oldest have all graduated from BYU, are married, and we have three wonderful in-laws and two unbelievably cute grandchildren. Our two youngest children are currently serving as full time missionaries and will then return to BYU to continue their studies. We find great joy in being together as a family, and love to travel and explore different parts of the world together.
Please take the time you have between now and when you arrive in Arizona to prepare spiritually. Study the Book of Mormon EACH day. A life-long, daily, study of the Book of Mormon will bless you abundantly. Study Preach My Gospel as well as the training outlined in the missionary portal.
We already love you and are so excited to be able to serve with you. You have been prepared to serve at this particular time. What a blessing you will be to those that you will serve!
President and Sister Eyre
